Rick Wakeman Laments Prog Rock’s Lack Of Respect (Interview)

The former keyboard wiz of Yes has recently been named the first recipient of the “Prog God Award” by Prog Magazine (of course). But the man behind such 70s extravaganzas as Journey To The Centre Of The Earth and The Myths An Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table is annoyed that Yes and other prog bands haven’t gotten their due in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Wakeman is a busy man these days. In addition to receiving awards he hosts a radio prgramme, appears on British television regularly, writes books, records new music, re-records his older music and performs live. He is due to tour New Zealand in October with three “intimate” one-man shows. Despite all that, Wakeman found time to chew the fat with The 13th Floor.
