13th Floor Stupid Song Of The Day: Eric Clapton – Stand And Deliver
Oh dear…words by Van Morrison, sung by Eric Clapton…how far the mighty have fallen. This piece of watered-down “blues-rock” is making the rounds today.
The song is Stand And Deliver and it was written by Van Morrison, who, in the recent past has brought us gems like Born To Be Free, As I Walked Out and No More Lockdown. Now he’s got accused racist Eric Clapton on board to sing and play this insipid tune.
The only bright spot here is that money generated by this track will go to Morrison’s Save Live Music campaign benefitting those working in the music industry in the UK and Ireland.
Van seems determined to tarnish a legacy that has produced so much wonderful music, while for me and Clapton, well, I still throw up a little in my mouth anytime I hear Wonderful Tonight in the supermarket. Best reason for wearing a mask yet!
