Auckland based musician and composer Paul McLaney has been making music as a solo artist and with Gramsci and The Impending Adorations for almost 20 years. Paul’s latest project is Play On, which is described as “a musical imagining of the great solioquies of William Shakespeare”. Yes, that’s right, Paul McLaney is collaborating with Shakespeare! The results can be heard at the Pop-Up Globe Theatre on Sunday, April 3rd. Is addition to Paul, the concert version of Play On will feature Julia Deans, Maisey Rika, Esther Stephens, Mara TK, Laughton Kora and Cameron Rhodes plus a band and string section. Paul McLaney recently dropped by The 13th Floor studios to tell Marty Duda about the project and to perform two brand new songs that will feature in Play On, the concert.
