Dunedin-based musician, writer, poet and all-around artist Bill Direen was in Auckland recently to celebrate the reissue of his classic Flying Nun album Beatin Hearts and to attend the New Zealand International Film Festival. Simon Ogston’s documentary A Memory Of Others, which explores Bill Direen’s creative life was playing at the festival and Bill participated in several Q&A sessions.

Bill also sat down with Marty Duda to discuss his feelings about being the subject of a feature film and his approach to making music.
