The Eastern were due to play at this Waiheke venue back over Auckland Anniversary Weekend but as leader Adam McGrath remarked before the show, once Elton John cancelled the night of the Flood there was no shame in calling it off.
The 48th Auckland Folk Festival went ahead this year despite some last-minute threats of a lockdown. It was a stunning success due to the quality and vast breadth of styles and genres that we all enjoyed over three days.

Paul Kelly, the Bob Dylan of Australia, finished his three-month tour at the Civic Theatre in Auckland last night in front of a warm and enthusiastic crowd, and I must say he delivered to expectations.
Day 2 of the Southern Fork Americana Festival and this time it’s The Bads and The Eastern with Stretch filling out the bill. Day 1, with Eb & Sparrow and The Miltones, set the bar pretty high…how would Day 2 compare?
