13th Floor New Song Of The Day: Galveston – Messed Around

Galveston is the new Auckland-based band formed by former Garageland frontman Jeremy Eade. The trio is completed by bassist Sean Reid and drummer Rick McShane.

Their new single, Messed Around, marks the first new music from Eade in 16 years.

The band celebrated the new release with a show at the Grey Lynn RSC. Opening act Ocean Beach set up the gig perfectly by wrapping up their set with a cover of the Jimmy Webb song Galveston, a hit for Glen Campbell back in 1968.

Then Eade and his bandmates performed for an hour, mixing old favourites such as Garageland’s Beelines To Heaven with new material.

The assembled crowd had a good time bopping to Eade’s trademark angular guitar riffs. Indeed, the sound of Galveston is not that far removed from Garageland.
